Should we stay here or go back to gamespot?

Post by BastardSword on Wed Feb 15, 2012 11:20 am

Waaay back in the day we all met up on the Gamespot Sniper Elite ps2 forum, but we decided to make separate forums because people started fussing that we were talking too much about SOCOM. There were a couple of other sites that died out but the Bunker kept going, for like 5 years until its recent demise.

Do you guys think we should use this site for SE stuff or do you want to go back to Gamespot? SE V2 is coming out supposedly in May so we could be seeing a lot of interest in the game and a lot of old SE vets coming back.

Here is the Gamespot Sniper Elite ps3 forum if you want to sign up or go post there:

Let me know what you guys think. The Bunker didn't get a lot of posts but it had a pretty big user list and some regular posters who kept posting year after year.

Well the gamespot/gamefaq forums are pretty bad now. At least on the gamefaqs side all threads become locked after a few days or something without a post. When the sequel comes out I am sure there will be more activity here.

They automatically lock and get archived on gamefaqs after something like 20 days without a post, and they just disappear on gamespot. Before they started archiving them, topics would just purge and disappear after a few weeks instead of getting saved.

The problem with this place is new people won't know about it, they'll go to places like gamespot or whatever. I did make a topic on the SEV2 ps3 board giving a link to this place. And people who got my mass email will at least have the link too, though I think we had maybe like 10 regular people using the Bunker board before it was closed down.

I dunno what the SEV2 community will be like. On SE1 it was always a pretty small group of people compared with other games like SOCOM or COD games etc, and almost everyone met up on the gamespot boards. And the number of games available was pretty small so you'd meet the same people over and over, and the servers didn't hide games from you and force you to play against random people like COD did on ps2. My guess is Rebellion will try and make SEV2 more like other console shooters like COD and so on in terms of how people find each other online...like you can start a game with your buddies. Hopefully they get the multiplayer right and make it fun and easy for people to play with one another.

I'm the one who replied to the topic on GameSpot. I figured I'd go ahead and create an account here too. I used my PSN ID, so this is the name you'll see me playing under once the game comes out.
